Mesa Police Chief Speaks Out About Teen Violence And The Recent Arrest Of A Juvenile Suspect

  • Lead Chief Ken Cost today reached out to the community by video with an update from our investigation and a plea for our community, parents and teens.

On January 4, 2024, Mesa Police were notified of an aggravated assault of a teen that occurred in May 2023. Detectives spoke to the victim and several witnesses and through the investigation were able to identify a 17 year old suspect.

The juvenile suspect was located and arrested on January 11, 2024. He is being held at the Maricopa County Juvenile Detention Center.

Incidents of teen violence have been making headlines throughout the East Valley over the last couple of months. Chief Ken Cost today reached out to the community by video with an update from our investigation and a plea for our community, parents and teens.
